| Summary: | Objective: to analyze the alterations of thyroid hormones as an incidental factor in breast pathologies in patients that come to the surgery 3rd service at the “Dr. Domingo Luciani” hospital between January 2014-2016. Methods: It was developed as a prospective and longitudinal study, using non probabilistic sampling to obtain a sample of 92 patients with benign and malignant breast pathologies. The average of age was calculated and presented in frequency and percentage of paraclinic data associated to breast pathologies. It was used as a descriptive statistic technique. Results: the age group with higher frequency of breast pathologies is 31-45 years old (31,5%), the most common breast pathology was fibroglandular condition (66,3%) followed by breast cancer (15,21%). 17 patients (18,4%) had thyroid hormones alterations, being hypothyroidism the most common (76%), especially in breast cancer, where it was present in 50% of patients. Conclusions: alterations of the thyroid hormones were found in 18,4% of the sample, being higher in malignant pathologies (57,14%) which could indicate a relationship between thyroid pathologies, especially hypothyroidism with breast cancer. |
