| Gaia: | The studies about Venezuelan building and urbanism, in the second part of XX century, are dispersed in newspaper articles, curatorial texts and exhibition catalogs. For this reason, the main objective of this work is to make a contribution to architectural venezuelan chronology, investigating the constructive events and project proposals during the seventh decade of the twentieth century in Venezuela. The specific objectives are: to know the consequences of the first government of Rafael Caldera (1916-2009) in the national architecture and urbanism; evidence the implications of the “Oil Crisis of 73” in Venezuela’s construction industry; and undertand the consequencies of dissolution MOP and TABO in the late 70’s; alson describing the characteristics of architecture and urbanism in this period, as well as to identify the emblematic architects of that decade and verifying the effects of the nationalization of oil and basic industries. Finally, in important to study the effects of “Black Friday” (1983) and how the constructive guidelines that emerged in the seventies were stopped. The methodology consists in a review of bibliographic and newspaper, studiying buildings and proyectos materialized between 1970 and 1980. Among the results obtained, it was found that the period of the seventies is not uniform: the first part of this decade -under Caldera's government and the disputes between AD and Copei within the Congress- is very different from the period after 1974, signed by the “Oil Crisis of 73” and with Carlos Andrés Pérez (1922-2010) in the presidency. In addition, during the years 1970-1980 ocurrs a change in architecture in Venezuela: great buildings, a new scale in construcctions, also the aparition of big towers of banking, entertainment or market activities. |
