Tóm tắt:To evaluate the efficacy, safety and tolerability of the two conventional colonoscopy preparation schemes with two modified schemes in patients over 65 years. Methods: Double blind, randomized controlled that included all patients admitted to the gastroenterology division of Dr. Domingo Luciani General Hospital between June and September 2009 that required a diagnostic colonoscopy. Patients were assigned to one of four groups: Group 1: 4 liters of PEG. Group 2: 2 liters of PEG + 4 Bisacodyl tablets. Group 3: 90 ml of NaP splited in two doses and Group 4: 2 Bisacodyl tablets + Oral Fleet Enema (2 bottles of 135 ml) in 1000 ml of frozen orange juice. Tolerance, adverse events, serum biochemical values before and after preparation (sodium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus and albumin) and cleaningquality (scale of Boston) were evaluated. Results and Discussion: A total of 30 patients (71 +4, 94 years), 17 males (56.66 %) and 13 females( 43.33% ) were studied. Oral fleet enema + bisacodyl combination was the best for assessing left colon. PEG alone was best for the right colon, without statistical significance (p = 0.88). 43.3 % of patients developed symptoms associated with the preparation. PEG + bisacodyl combination was the worst tolerated and PEG alone the worst pleasant (p = 0.08). 42.5% of patients would not use PEG again. Patients did not develop clinically significant alterations in the concentrations of sodium, potassium, calcium, creatinine, and albumin
