Redactado en 2016 y editado en 2026. Interesante serie de casos poco discutidos en la literatura médica y que se presentan con alguna frecuencia en nuestro medio. Resumen El apismo por picaduras de Hymenoptera constituye un problema de salud pública subestimado. La toxicidad sistémica por picaduras múltiples puede producir anafilaxia, rabdomiólisis, insuficiencia renal aguda e infarto agudo de miocardio. Se describe una serie de tres casos masculinos atacados simultáneamente por un enjambre de abejas en el campus de la Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV) en febrero de 2016, dos de ellos hospitalizados. Se revisa la evidencia epidemiológica y clínica internacional sobre apismo masivo y sus complicaciones. Morbidity and Mortality from Apism: A Three Case Series Following a Bee Swarm Attack at the Central University of Venezuela, 2016 Abstract Apism due to Hymenoptera stings is an underestimated public health problem. Systemic toxicity from multiple stings can lead to anaphylaxis, rhabdomyolysis, acute renal failure, and acute myocardial infarction. We describe a series of three male patients who were simultaneously attacked by a swarm of bees on the campus of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) in February 2016, two of whom required hospitalization.
