Ամփոփում:Objective: To determine the incidence of postoperative complex regional pain syndrome Methods: An observational, descriptive, retrospective and cross-sectional study that included 69 patients with clinical diagnosis of postoperative upper limb CRPS treated at the Center for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of Puerto La Cruz, during the period 2003 – 2014 has held. Results: The incidence of postoperative CRPS upper extremity was 0.59% (95% confidence interval: 0.46 to 0.74%) the most common age group was represented by patients over 60 years (43.5%); and female gender predominated (69.6%). About location, 53.6% was left, the surgical procedure most often associated with the development of CRPS was the placement of osteosynthesis material followed by the release of peripheral nerves, the standing time until full reimbursement to work activities and daily life ranged between 2 to 4 months and the most common complications were the presence of edema, chronic pain and decreased muscle strength of the affected limb. Conclusions: The CRPS represents a diverse range of signs and symptoms sometimes difficult to diagnose, often affecting the upper limb after a surgical procedure, raising the risk when multiple procedures are performed in a single operation time and that besides damaging the patient work performance meriting often a long rest, they leave sequels that markedly detract the quality of life of patients.
