Резюме:Purpose: To relate the presumptive H+ magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) diagnosis to the histopathological diagnosis by stereotactic biopsy or surgical resection in brain tumors. Methods: 9 patients were included who presented to the Hospital Vargas de Caracas Neurosurgery Department between September 2011 and September 2013, with a diagnosed brain tumor and indication for stereotactic biopsy and/or surgical resection. A preoperative multivoxel MRS was performed; the results were recorded and later compared to the biopsy findings following the surgical intervention. Results: A good agreement level was obtained (kappa: 0.743; p<0,005) with 88.9% total or partial matches and 11.1% mismatch. Conclusions: MRS is a reliable complementary method for the diagnosis of brain tumor lesions in the clinical environment
