Riassunto:The collapse of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, along with other characteristics of the current international context, ended the bipolar system and the ideological dispute. This all resulted in transformation, readjustment, turmoil, uncertainty in the international relations, in the international system, in the international order/mechanism and in the international politics. That global scenario impacted Latin America. Thus, the main objective of this Special Project is to analyze the international relations in the 21st Century through the main approaches and theories, including Joseph Nye’s three-dimensional chess game. Then, the impact on those transformations and readjustments of power on Latin America are studied in to deduce its challenges and perspectives. This objective will be achieved by developing a chapter where the approach to the problem and the methodological aspects are detailed. The specific objectives are: 1) understand the concept of international relations, their integrating elements and other basic definitions; 2) study the main approaches that explain the international relations in the 21st century; and, 3) analyze the three-dimensional international game and its impact on Latin America, to deduce their mains challenges and perspectives. We hope to demonstrate the main theories that explain the contemporary international relations’ transformations and changes in the international system, in the international order/mechanism and in the international politics and their relation with changes and transitions in Latin America.
