| Zusammenfassung: | Objective: To determine the effect that bilateral salpingectomy causes on the ovarian reserve of women that are in a childbearing age and who underwent surgical sterilization with this technique, at the gynecology service of the Hospital Universitario de Caracas within the period of time from April 2016 to June 2016. Methods: bilateral salpingectomy was performed in 30 patients with desire for surgical sterilization; with measurement of: follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), antral follicle count and ovarian volume baseline and 3 months postoperatively. Results: no statistically significant difference was found in the variables studied at baseline contrast with the results obtained 3 months postoperatively. Conclusions: Bilateral salpingectomy is a safe and effective tool, both as a method of prophylaxis of epithelial ovarian cancer as a contraceptive alternative without affecting ovarian reserve. |
