| Riassunto: | A study was conducted to evaluate the productive performance of two genetic lines of swine in a commercial farm site 1, located in the Belen- Villa de Cura road, Carabobo State, Venezuela. One hundred sixty sow of genetic line (GL) PIC (80 L03 sows and 80 L42 sows), allocated in groups of 20 according to parity number (PN: 1, 2, 3, 4 or more). Sows were fed equally during the gestation and lactation, respectively, with feeding ad libitum during lactation. Piglets received the basic management at birth and at the ten days of lactation they were under creep-feeeding (50 g/piglet). The evaluated variables were feed intake of the sows (FI), backfat loss (BFL) and body weight loss (BWL) during lactation, number of piglets born alive (NPBA), dead (NPBD), mummies (NPBM), litter birth-weight (LBW) and at weaning (LWW), number of weaned piglets (NWP), and weaning to estrous interval (WEI). The day of farrowing and at the ten days of lactation, colostrum and milk samples were collected from each sow, respectively, to determine its composition. The results indicate that FI and WEI were not different (P>0.05) between genetic lines. The GL affected (P<0.05) the BWL and BFL of sows, with greater (P<0.05) values in L42 (18.91% and 2.69 mm) with respect to L03 (15.04% and 1.39 mm). The PN affected (P<0.05) BWL, BFL and LWW. First-parity sows had greater (P<0.05) BWL and less LWW than sows of following parities, although in the second parity the BFL and BWL are greater (P<0.05) that in sows of three parities or more. The L42 sows had greater (P<0.05) NPBA and LWW than L03 sows. The interaction GL × PN indicated that LWW was greatest (P<0.05) in L42 sows in the three first parity without differences after the fourth parity. The colostrums of L42 sows contains more ash (P<0.01), while the protein content is greater (P<0.05) in milk compared to L03 sows. The colostrums and milk of first parity sows had greater (P<0.05) fat content. The interaction GL × PN indicated that the lactose content in milk of sows L03 in the first parity is greater (P<0.05) than L42 sows. The maternal ability of L42 sows is superior, which exposes to this GL as the best alternative for selection of reproductive sows in the evaluated farm. |
