Descripció
Sumari:The objective of this study is to analyze the probability-related activities designed for students in primary school math textbooks of the Colección Bicentenario or Bicentennial Collection (BC). It is well known that some of the desirable characteristics of math textbooks are the design of activities that allow the teacher to probe into students’ conceptual knowledge, develop procedural knowledge and deepen into acquired knowledge. Forty activities included in the topic of probability were examined in the six books of the collection and fourteen of such activities were taken out of the analysis as they were unrelated to probability. Results show that seventeen of the twenty six activities included in the analysis fall into the low levels of cognitive demand according to an adaptation for the area of probability of the model of mathematical tasks adopted in our theoretical framework.
