| Özet: | Objective: To determine whether there are differences between epidemiological variables according to gender in the clinical presentation of acute coronary syndrome. Method: Retrospective, transversal, comparative study. Results: Between January and December 2015, 96 patients were included, 36.5% of them were women. The average age for women was 64.74 ± 11.40 and 59.70 ± 12.11 years for men, p = 0.048. Of the total patients, 42 were admitted with IMACEST (43.8%), 16 (16.7%) with IMASEST and 38 (39,6%) with UA. When patients were added by risk groups with respect to age (men <55 years and women <65 years) we found men with ACS more often than women (61.15% vs 38.9%) p = 0.01. Moreover, men smoked in greater proportion (78.7% vs 48.6%) p = 0.02. By comparing the differences in treatment according to sex, clopidogrel was administered more frequently in women (88.5% vs 100%) p = 0.04. Cardiac catheterization was performed in 40 patients (41.66%); Of whom 27 received PCI (67.5%). The total hospital mortality was 4 patients (4.16%) and the total mortality after the first semester of follow up was 7 patients (7.60%). Conclusions: Our findings show that acute coronary syndromes occur earlier in men than in women. An important follow up of the international medical treatment guidelines of ACS was evidenced. |
