| Riassunto: | Malnutrition remains a public health problem worldwide, especially in developing country being recognized high prevalence in hospitals and direct impact on morbidity and mortality. Objective: To assess the nutritional status of children hospitalized in the Pediatrics medical 1 service. Methods: Prospective, descriptive cross-sectional study, where the nutritional status of patients admitted to the Pediatric Medical University Hospital of Caracas during the period from 15 March to 15 September 2016. evaluated data were obtained by measures anthropometric to entry, exit and biochemical parameters of serum albumin, total lymphocyte and hemoglobin / hematocrit. Results: 82 patients aged 2 to 12 years, of both sexes, predominantly male (61%) and preschool (53.7%) were evaluated. The P / T input-output was statistically significant (p = 0.017). BMI was not statistically different (p = 0.086). 45.1% had anemia; mild lymphopenia 35.4%, and 50% were normal albumin. Hospitalization time ranged from 7 to 14 days (64.6%) and the predominant pathology was skin infections (57.3%). Conclusions: The length of stay was associated with nutritional risk. There were significant changes to P / T <5 years. No correlation was found between albumin - malnutrition, anemia and other in some degree of lymphopenia. It was shown that the tool used to assess and classify allowed intrahospital nutritional status. |
