| Shrnutí: | Appendicitis is one of the most frequent causes of hospital admission and a public health problem. We have been concerned in our center about the increased number of complications in appendicectomized patients. Objective: To analyze the risk factors associated with postoperative complications in these patients. Type of study: Retrospective descriptive-correlational study conducted in the surgery department HMPC IV period February 2011 - February 2012. Population: all patients who presented to the Hospital in the study period. Sample: ninety-seven (97) patients. Clinical Procedure: Data collection was performed using a data collection sheet, obtained of the clinical histories. For tabulation and analysis was used Epi Info, with α = 0.05. Results: 55% of the patients were male, 35% lower than 19 years, a situation that differs from other studies (Chian), 28% of the sample had medical history, bronchial asthma being the most prevalent comorbidity (9%), followed by high blood pressure and obesity, the most common complication (38%) was wound infection, 62% of the sample had as intraoperative finding a phlegmonous appendix, 66% of patients with complications had a perforated appendix. The 1% had a healthy cecal appendix. Mortality found in our study was null. Conclusion: It is necessary to identify risk factors to decrease the morbidity and mortality of patients. |
