| Summary: | Man is rapidly transforming the planet, causing the planet degradation, and leading to global effects that modify terrestrial environment, water and air. The objective of this research is to assess the socio-environmental vulnerability of a potential increase in sea levels caused by climate change, emphasizing the physical, specifically the loss of land from Cape Codera out to the easternmost of Tacarigua Lagoon, in Miranda State. Common methodology was applied here as to seven steps for assessing vulnerability (IPCC, 1992). The article presents the results obtained in the third step methodology, referred to “Identification of the factors of development.” It is concluded here that tourism and recreational use occupies the largest area (approximately 37.60%), followed by residential (27.30%) in the study area. In the absence of an effective response to the increase in sea level, significant capital value in tourism infrastructure (132.90 x10 6 Bs.) would be at risk, urban (96.40 x10 6 Bs.), and to roads (13x10 6 Bs.), with serious social, economic and ecological damages.
