| Shrnutí: | Maize is the third crop harvested in the world. In Venezuela is the most important crop, for the daily diet of Venezuelan and as a source of employment. The use of varieties represents a substantial contribution. It is important to assess genetic diversity and evaluate the agronomic potential of maize populations. The present research considered the genetic advance in a program of improvement of the UNET; Integrating work and inter-institutional cooperation as a fundamental pillar to achieve progress in the country. Seven genotypes were evaluated in the agronomic stage and 8 in the molecular stage. There were no significant differences in morphological and agronomic variables between genotypes. In the linear regression analysis it was presented increasing for the variables plant height and ear and descent for male and female flowering, evidencing the obtaining of earlier plants. We used 45 SSRs of which 23 were polymorphic, with a mean value of alleles per locus of 2.28 for a total of 73 alleles, a PIC of 0.48 was obtained. The UPGMA dendogram showed the formation of five groups by distance and genetic similarity of Dice, in the analysis of main coordinates allowed the grouping of the materials belonging to the breeding program (Pg, CO, C1, C2 and Horsetooth). The value of PIC in cycle 1 was 0.5237 and in cycle 2 of 0.4468. The Ho was lower than the He in both cycles for the phi011 locus. There was a close genetic variability, it is necessary to refresh the breeding program with other materials and obtain important results in the variables of interest |
