Description
Summary:The principal gol of the root canal treatment is to disinfect and shape the root canal system, although it diminish the microorganism, it arise the need for aintracanal medication between appointments, for a better cleaning effect. The calcium hydroxide was introduced in dentistry by Herman in 1920 as an endodontics medication. Its therapeutic effect depends on the alkaline pH and in the dissociation of calcium hydroxide into calcium and hydroxile ions. However, the medicament vehicle plays a very important role in the overall disinfection process because it determines the velocity of ionic dissociation, causing the paste to be solubilized and resorbed at various rates by the periapical tissues and from within the root canal The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of different vehicles over the pH and the Calcium Ion release of the Calcium Hydroxide in a 3 week period.
