Descripció
Sumari:Appendicitis was present in the earth since arrive of men. Egiptian´s mummys showed stigmas of this desease. Unknown before middle of XIX century and nomínate then as Typhlitis and Perythiplitis. Three northamericans´doctors: Reginald Fitz, physician and pathologist of Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston); Charles Mc Burney ( Roosevelt´s Hospital, New York) and John B Murphy (Cook County Hospital, Chicago), both surgeons, were parents of the diagnosis and operative treatment. Europe wait for many decades to accept appendectomy to resolve this problem. The name of “Appendicitis” was created for Fitz. The “point”, the “sign” and the “incision” for Mc Burney and the “triad” for Murphy. This paper revised historically this disease and its management since then until update. A main point is the early diagnosis before perforation and peritonitis to obtain a low morthality and morbidity. Is made a investigation of biblic psalm No. 50: “Miserere mei” and its relationship with acute appendicitis and others acute abdomen.
