| Gaia: | The aim of this paper is to analyze the performance of the United Nations Mission in Sudan (UNMIS) for the period between 2005 and 2011, in order to address and meet their participation and impact on the process of Independence of South Sudan. For this purpose the following specific objectives were established: a) Describe the organization of UNMIS to understand its functioning, b) Explain the causes of the Second Sudanese Civil War, to know the conflict, c) Examine the actions of UNMIS to determine their importance in the process that led to the end the Second Sudanese Civil War and subsequent independence of South Sudan, d) Analyze the performance of UNMIS from the perspective of Institutional Neoliberalism. The research questions raised were: What is the UNMIS?, how UNMIS work?, What were the causes of conflict in Sudan?, What was the performance of UNMIS in the process of pacification ultimately led to the end the Second Sudanese Civil War and subsequent independence of South Sudan?, It is pertinent to the study of the performance of UNMIS from the perspective of Institutional Neoliberalism?. The methodology used was documentary research. Information was collected through the technique of the summary of the works to be used. Subsequently, a process of organizing information according to tentative outline was made. Once completed the compilation of information and identified relevant data, we proceeded to identify the most useful information in correspondence with the general objective.For the first chapter were key contextual and historiographical creating UNMIS sources and documents mostly from the web archives of the United Nations, specifically the Security Council. In the second chapter, the historiographical proved indispensable to know and understand the facts that led to the conflict of the Second Sudanese Civil War and subsequently allowed the independence of South Sudan sources. As for the third chapter, a contextual and historiographical analysis allowed us to understand the actions of UNMIS in Sudan was made. |
