| Summary: | Objective: to establish the utility of carotid Doppler ultrasound in patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease and the most frequent findings. Method: We performed a descriptive, retrospective, longitudinal study in the ultrasound unit in the Radiology department of the Hospital Universitario de Caracas. Results: The carotid atheromatous pathology is more frequent in males (55,4%), mean age 62 years. Calcic plaques are the most frequent (33,8%) and, most frequently affected segment is the ACCD (29,2%).Segments most affected by the plaques that conditioned areas of significant stenosis, no hemodynamic repercussions conditioned (83,1%). |
