Description
Summary:Bottom rot is caused by the fungus Rhizoctonia spp. and is a disease of lettuce in the area Timotes in different parts of the world, is characterized by rotting at the base of the plant, control is difficult because the pathogen remains in sclerotia for long. But biological control is an alternative. Trichoderma, biocontrol is the most studied for this pathogen, favorable results. The project was conducted in the laboratory of EXPERTABIOL, Central University of Venezuela. We used 18 isolates of Trichoderma and one of Rhizoctonia obtained from soil and infected plants respectively Timotes. Were described and evaluated in vitro isolates of Trichoderma and Rhizoctonia was found that the causal agent of basal rot is Rhizoctonia spp. Also noted; mycoparasitism by; penetration, rolling, lysis, vacuolation and parallel growth of hyphae Trichoderma on the pathogen. Inhibition of growth of Rhizoctonia was observed in 65% with the isolate T068. All isolates were Trichodema volatile and nonvolatile metabolites inhibit the growth achieved in 64 of Rhizoctonia and 71% respectively. Almost all isolates of Trichoderma presented grade 4 competition, making them promising for control of Rhizoctonia. Also observed that Trichoderma is affected by the growth of the pathogen, as it was noted that some isolates decreased their growth and their potential against Rhizoctonia. The use of isolates T068, T065, T063 and T059 for further investigation, as were those who gave the best results in different tests, and prepare them as bio-preparations for control of Rhizoctonia.
