Summary:The infant mortality rate is used as an indicator of quality of life of a population, as a result of caring for the general welfare and health care. General Objective: To analyze infant mortality in the Sucre municipality in Miranda State during the period 2006 to 2008. Method: Retrospective descriptive study of 258 deaths in the period 2006-2008. Results: The infant mortality rate fluctuated during the study period from 9.04 to 17.64 per 1000 live births with a high risk p <0.05 higher risk parish was Petare with a rate 60 per 1000 live births p <0, 05, groups most affected early neonatal and post / neonatal 8.56 and 6.8 per 1000 live births, birth weight 1000-3499gr., birth length 47-57cms. Root causes of sepsis mortality 25%, pneumonia 15.5%, 14.6% congenital malformations. Inadequate prenatal 98.20% of all deaths.
