Root causes of sepsis mortality 25%, pneumonia 15.5%, 14.6% congenital malformations. Inadequate prenatal 98.20% of all deaths. |

Objetivo General: Analizar la mortalidad infantil en el municipio Sucre del estado Miranda durante el periodo 2006 al 2008. Método: Estudio descriptivo retrospectivo de 258 defunciones ocurridas en el periodo 2006-2008. Resultados: La tasa de mortalidad infantil osciló en el período de estudio entre 9,04 a 17,64 por 1000 NV con un altísimo riesgo p< 0,05 parroquia de mayor riesgo fue Petare con una tasa 60 por 1000 NV p< 0,05, grupos más afectados neonatal precoz y post/neonatal 8,56 y 6,8 por 1000 NV, peso al nacer 1000-3499gr., talla al nacer 47-57cms. Causas básicas de mortalidad Sepsis 25%, neumonías 15,5%, malformaciones congénitas 14,6%.
