| Summary: | To evaluate the productive performance and the characteristics of the pigs fed with ractopamine, chromium and zinc, an assay was carried out in the Porcine Section Laboratory of the Animal Production Institte of th e Faculty of Agronomy of the Central University of Venezuela, with 90 pigs male immunocastrated, crossover Yorkshire x Landrace breeds, with an average weight of 72.2 kg ± 1.2 kg and 18 weeks of age, under a randomized block design, with nine treatments and five repetitions each, The treatments are composed of 3 levels of ractopamine (0, 5 and 10 ppm) in combination with two levels of chromium (0 and 400 ppm) and zinc (0 and 50 ppm). The daily gain in weight, daily food consumption, feed conversion (COA), dorsal fat hickness (EGD) and area of the Longissimus dorsi muscle (AMLD), the quantitative haracteristics of the carcasses, blood chemistry and feeding costs were evaluated. to produce a kilogram of pork. A decrease in dorsal fat thickness was observed with 5 ppm of ractopamine and 400 ppm of chromium (p <0,038). No significant effects were observed on the productive variables, the quantitative variables of the channels and the blood chemistry |
