Para lo cual se dispondrá de dos galpones experimentales de piso de concreto equipado con un comedero tubular semiautomático y un bebedero tipo chupón para suministro de alimento y agua ad limitum. Se utilizarán 90 cerdos machos inmunocastrados de la línea genética PIC (Landrace × Yorkshire) con un peso inicial de 30 kg y 10 semanas de edad, provenientes de una granja comercial, serán identificados y distribuidos al azar dos cerdos por cada corral, lo cual constituirá la unidad experimental. Todos los cerdos serán sometidos a una dieta única para la etapa de desarrollo hasta alcanzar los 70 kg de peso vivo y luego se ajustará la dieta para cubrir los requerimientos de la etapa de engorde hasta los 100 kg, etapa en la cual se aplicarán los siguientes tratamientos: T1: 0 ppm ractopamina, 0 ppm Cr, 0 ppm Zn; T2: 0 ppm ractopamina, 400 ppm Cr, 0 ppm Zn; T3: 0 ppm ractopamina, 0 ppm Cr, 50 ppm Zn; T4: 5 ppm ractopamina, 0 ppm Cr, 0 ppm zn; T5: 5 ppm ractopamina, 400 ppm Cr, 0 ppm Zn; T6: 5 ppm ractopamina, 0 ppm Cr, 50 ppm Zn; T7: 10 ppm ractopamina, 0 ppm Cr, 0 ppm zn; T8: 10 ppm ractopamina, 400 ppm Cr, 0 ppm Zn; T9: 10 ppm ractopamina, 0 ppm Cr, 50 ppm Zn. Los animales serán pesados semanalmente para evaluar su comportamiento hasta que alcance un peso de 70 kg. Las dietas experimentales serán formuladas utilizando el programa Allix2. El experimento se conducirá bajo un diseño de bloques al azar, con nueve tratamientos y cinco repeticiones por tratamiento.
