Methods: Levine’s self-administered questionnaire will be used on 50 patients of the Hand Surgery Department that have a diagnosis of Median Nerve Compression on the carpal tunnel, the patients will be divided in two groups, group A: will be treated with a MO incision, group B: will be treated with a CSP incision. The Levine’s score will be carried out six months after the surgical procedure. The data is going to be collected with a proper statistics descriptive procedure using the self-administered questionnaire. Results: Group A had a pre-operative symptom value of 3.15 and function value of 3.09 meanwhile Group B had 3.24 and 3,18 respectively. Postoperative Symptom and functional values show Group A 1.46 and 1.35 on the Group B 1.49 and 1.4 respectively. Patients treated with the mini open approach showed a decrease of 54,5 % from the preoperative score. Chow single approach patients had a decrease of 56,2% from the starting score. Conclusions: This study shows no difference on the surgical approach decided to release the median nerve on the carpal tunnel, on a six months’ postoperative period. |

Método: se realizó la auto-encuesta de Levine a 50 pacientes del servicio de cirugía de la mano que presentan diagnóstico clínico de atrapamiento del nervio mediano en el túnel del carpo, se dividieron tales pacientes en dos grupos grupo A: liberación del túnel del carpo por técnica MO, grupo B: liberación del túnel del carpo por técnica PUC. Se realizó la encuesta a los 6 meses postoperatorio. Se utilizó la técnica de estadística descriptiva, mediante la aplicación de un auto encuesta para recolectar uno de los datos. Resultados: el valor pre quirúrgico del grupo A de síntomas fue de 3.15 y de función fue de 3.09 mientras que en el grupo B fue de 3.24 (síntomas) y 3,18 (función). Los valores postoperatorios fueron en el grupo A Síntomas 1.46 y 1.35 Función. En el grupo B Síntomas 1.49 y 1.4 Funcional. El grupo tratado con técnica mini open presentó una mejoría del 54,5 % y el grupo tratado con la técnica de portal único presento una mejoría del 56,2%.
